Beginner's guide

How to apply for any government scheme

Almost every yojana follows the same five steps. Get these right once and you can apply for any scheme without paying an agent.

  1. Check eligibility first

Read the "who can apply" and "who cannot apply" sections carefully — age, income, land, category and state residence. Use the Scheme Finder if unsure.

  2. Keep your documents ready

Scan clear copies of Aadhaar, bank passbook, photo and certificates. Make sure your name is spelled the same on every document.

  3. Link Aadhaar with your bank (DBT)

Most benefits are paid by Direct Benefit Transfer. If Aadhaar is not seeded with your bank account, the money will fail.

  4. Apply only on the official portal or CSC

Use the official website (ending in .gov.in or .nic.in) or your nearest Common Service Centre. Never pay anyone who promises "guaranteed approval".

  5. Save your application number & track status

Note the registration or application number and check the status regularly on the official portal.

16 questions answered

What is YojanaBot?

YojanaBot is a free information website that explains central and state government schemes of India in simple language — who can apply, how much benefit you get, which documents you need, how to apply and how to check your status or payment.

Who runs YojanaBot?

YojanaBot is created and managed by Prabhash, a full-time content creator and web developer with 6 years of experience in building websites. He started YojanaBot to make government scheme information easy to find and easy to understand for every Indian family.

Is YojanaBot a government website?

No. YojanaBot is an independent, private information website. It is not linked to any ministry, department or government body. We collect information from official portals, notifications and press releases and explain it in simple words. To apply, always use the official portal or your nearest CSC.

Is YojanaBot really free to use?

Yes, 100% free. We do not charge any money for our articles, the Scheme Finder, calculators, status-check guides or any other feature. You do not need to register or log in to use the website.

Does YojanaBot take money to apply for a scheme or get approval?

Never. YojanaBot does not charge any fee, does not apply for schemes on your behalf and cannot get any application approved. If anyone asks you for money in the name of YojanaBot, it is a fraud — please do not pay and report it to us.

Will YojanaBot ask for my Aadhaar, bank details or OTP?

No. We never ask for your Aadhaar number, bank account details, passwords or OTP. The Scheme Finder works inside your browser and does not save your answers. Share personal details only on official government portals.

How does YojanaBot earn money if it is free?

YojanaBot shows advertisements (such as Google ads) on its pages. These ads help cover hosting and research costs so the website can stay free for everyone. We do not sell your personal data.

Where does YojanaBot get its information?

From official sources only — scheme guidelines, ministry and department portals, government notifications, gazettes, PIB press releases and state government websites. Official links are given in every article so you can check them yourself.

How often is the information updated?

Scheme pages are reviewed regularly and updated whenever an official notification, last date or rule changes. Every article shows its "last updated" date at the top.

How do I know which schemes I am eligible for?

Use the YojanaBot Scheme Finder on the homepage. Enter your state, age, gender, area, occupation and family income, and it shows schemes that usually match your profile. Then open each scheme's guide to confirm the exact eligibility rules.

Do I have to pay to apply for a government scheme?

Most government schemes are free to apply. Common Service Centres (CSCs) may charge a small, fixed service fee for filling the form. If anyone asks for a big amount for "guaranteed approval", it is a fraud — never share your OTP.

Why did my scheme money not come to my bank account?

The most common reasons are: Aadhaar not seeded with your bank account, eKYC pending, name mismatch between Aadhaar and bank records, an inactive account, or a wrong IFSC code. Check your DBT/PFMS payment status to see the exact reason.

Can I get benefits from both central and state schemes?

Yes, in most cases. Central and state schemes are usually separate, so you can receive both if you meet the eligibility of each. Some state schemes do not allow people who already get a similar benefit — check the "who cannot apply" section of each guide.

Is YojanaBot available in Hindi and other Indian languages?

Yes. Tap the language button on the side of the screen to read YojanaBot in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam or Gujarati. English is the default language.

I found wrong or outdated information. How can I report it?

Please tell us through the Contact page or email yojanabot.help@gmail.com with the page link and the correct information. We check every report against official sources and update the page quickly.

How can I get new scheme updates and last dates?

Subscribe with your email at the bottom of the homepage, or join our WhatsApp and Telegram channels. You will get new schemes, beneficiary list releases and last-date reminders for free.
