What Is New in 2026?

  • ECINET app: The Election Commission launched ECINET on 22 January 2026. It brings over 40 older apps (like the Voter Helpline app) into one app with one login. You can apply, search your name, download e-EPIC and even book a call with your Booth Level Officer (BLO).
  • Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026: Voter lists in many states are being checked house to house by BLOs. Phase III covers 16 states and 3 UTs, including Uttarakhand.
  • Uttarakhand final list: The final voter list after SIR was published in Uttarakhand on 3 October 2026, with 71,58,949 voters.

Who Can Apply for a Voter ID?

Eligibility Checklist

  • You must be an Indian citizen.
  • You must be 18 years or older on the qualifying date. There are four qualifying dates every year: 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October.
  • Young people aged 17 and above can apply in advance.
  • You must be an ordinary resident of the area where you are applying.
  • You should not be registered as a voter anywhere else.

Voter ID Card Apply Online (Form 6): Step-by-Step

Method 1: Voters’ Service Portal

  1. Open the Voters’ Service Portal. To open it directly, Click Here.
  2. Click on “Sign Up” and register with your mobile number (and email, if you want). Verify the OTP.
  3. Login with your mobile / email / EPIC number and OTP.
  4. Click on “Fill Form 6” (New registration for general electors).
  5. Select your state, district and assembly constituency.
  6. Fill in your personal details, relative’s details (father / mother / husband), date of birth and address.
  7. Upload your photo, age proof and address proof.
  8. Fill the declaration and the captcha, then click Submit.
  9. Save the reference number shown on the screen and sent by SMS.
  10. Your BLO may visit your home for verification.
  11. After approval, your EPIC number is generated. You can download the e-EPIC, and the physical card is sent by post.

Method 2: ECINET App

  1. Download the ECINET app from the Play Store or App Store.
  2. Register with your mobile number and OTP.
  3. Choose “Voter Registration (Form 6)”.
  4. Fill in your details, upload documents and submit.
  5. Track the status in the app.

Method 3: Offline Through BLO

  1. Get Form 6 from your Booth Level Officer (BLO) or the Electoral Registration Officer’s office.

  3. Click on “E-EPIC Download”.
  4. Enter your EPIC number or Form 6 reference number and select your state.
  5. Click Search. Your details will appear.
